According to a joint report by multiple ESPN reporters, the Bulls and Zach LaVine have had mutual interest in parting ways for at least a year. Despite LaVine’s bounce-back performance this season, it has not generated much interest in the trade market.
On a podcast this week, Brian Windhorst stated: “He’s having a great season. We know he’s been on the trade list for at least a year. However, I’m not hearing anything about LaVine on the trade market. I don’t think it’s because the Bulls don’t want to trade him. Even though he’s playing well…”
Tim MacMahon responded: “With the new CBA, all the additional complexities and restrictions make it difficult to trade a player with a large contract mid-season.”
Tim Bontemps added: “Any time you’re trading a player with a salary over $40 million, it’s a real challenge. LaVine hasn’t reached the threshold where teams are willing to overcome those difficulties.”
This season, LaVine has played 22 games for the Bulls, averaging 22.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.
