Rockets GM: No intention to trade Butler for now, satisfied with the current roster.

According to Clutch Points, recent rumors have suggested that Jimmy Butler has included teams like the Houston Rockets as potential destinations he would be willing to join. When Rockets General Manager Rafael Stone addressed this, he made it clear that he would be “extremely surprised” if any changes were to happen to the team this season.

“My job is obviously to remain open to everything, so I won’t shy away from doing my job,” Stone said. “We like the team we have right now. You know, we have absolutely no intention of making any changes. If something happens this season, I would be extremely surprised.”

“You know, we like where we are. We want to continue to develop our players, and that’s it. Will I listen to other teams? Of course. That’s part of my job.”

With players like Alperen Şengün and Jalen Green leading the way, Stone expressed satisfaction with the Rockets’ current roster and believes the team has significant potential for future growth. However, he emphasized that due diligence is part of his job, though he still denied the rumors regarding the Rockets trading for Butler.

“But again, no, we have no intentions, and no decision-making process indicates that we want to make any big moves right now or in the short term,” Stone stated candidly. “You know, we want this team to perform as well as possible this year, and then we’ll evaluate things at the end of the season.”

“But our hope is that this core group can lead us to where we want to go. From a trade standpoint, we’re pretty much done.”

The Rockets currently have a record of 16-8, ranking third in the Western Conference, and are preparing to face the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Cup quarterfinals on Thursday.
